In this article I am going to look at words that begin with X. This letter, the 24th of the alphabet, has a simple and strong shape. X marks the spot for our discussion about an unusual list of words as X words are plentiful, but many are not well known.
To make matters more complicated, it’s difficult to say just what sound the letter X makes at the beginning of a word. In some cases it is pronounced like a Z.
The letter X has always had a bit of a mystique about it. It is used in sci-fi, and comic strip characters.
When I think of X characters I think of Xena, Warrior Princess.
There is also the show, The X-Files, featuring two FBI agents who try to solve cases that involve supernatural and paranormal activity. Fox Mulder and Dana Scully team up in this very popular series which ran from 1993 to 2018.
X-Men has also known great popularity as a comic strip that has been made into extremely successful movies among old and young. Superheroes and supervillains battle it out in comic strips and on the big screen.
In addition to The X-Files and X-Men, the television show, X-Factor was big in the US, Canada and Britain. It features individuals and groups who compete to win through a display of their talents.

It’s important to have the correct word to describe someone, and we often search to find just the right word.
The letter X can help with this search by increasing your bank of words that you have to choose from.
The letter I have selected for X words that describe a person is xenodochial. It means being friendly or hospitable to people, even strangers.
Have you ever met anyone you would describe this way? I remember once when I was a teenager, hanging out with my friends. There was quite a large group of us, and we had gone to the bowling alley, then we headed off for the home of one of the members of the group.
