Negative Adverbs That Begin With M

An adverb, like an adjective, gives us more information about the topic or subject that we are talking about.  An adverb can modify an adjective, an action word, or another adverb, and usually ends in “ly”.

For example, you could say that the tea was terribly hot, the dog ran amazingly quickly, or the water slowly dripped from the faucet.

In these cases the words, terribly, amazingly, and slowly are adverbs. So is “quickly” for that matter. “Amazingly quickly” is an example of an adverb providing more information about another adverb.

The adverb, maliciously, refers to something being done in a mean-hearted or cruel way with the intent to hurt or injure.

For example, when we were kids, my brother maliciously threw my doll down the stairs and broke her.

Have you ever come across the word, milquetoast? It can be used to refer to someone who is meek and timid.

Interestingly, the word originated in a comic strip, and was the last name of one of the characters. The comic strip was called The Timid Soul.

The cartoonist took the name from an actual food eaten in America called milk toast. As you might guess, it was toasted bread in warm milk.

When women are in a misogynistic relationship, they suffer verbal and often physical abuse.

Sadly, there are societies where men have all the power, women must do as they are told, and may be treated worse than an animal.

There is also a word for women who hate men. These women are called misandrists.

Halloween or All Hallows Eve is a time to put on a costume and go trick or treating. While children love this spooky holiday, many adults like to join in the fun, too.

Masks are a major part of Halloween fun, disguising who the person is. Children love to trick you by seeing if you know who they are. Of course, you always let on that you do not, even if  you do.
